Student Newsletter: September 2007

New beginnings…

With each new school year, DSU Dining Services strives to implement something new and exciting for our customers.  One way we are delivering is creating a monthly e-newsletter during the school year to keep everyone up to date with our services.

 Java City    Java City

Our Roast of the Month is Costa Rica Veta de Oro and is available daily.  These beans are lightly roasted to preserve their natural full body and tangy, pleasant acidity.  Veta de Oro brews a cup full of flavor with subtle nutty notes and a finishing touch of sweet chocolate.  “Relationship coffee” is coffee sourced from farms with whom Java City has developed a one-on-one relationship.  From this relationship, both the quality of the coffee and life on the farm are improved.

Our featured drink is the Banana Mocha Javalanche and Coconut Mocha Javalanche.  The sweet taste of bananas or toasted coconut blended with Javalanche is the perfect transport to tropical summertime.  Ask for a sample!

Don't forget your Frequency Card!

Coming in October: The Great Pumpkin Latte and Sumatra Gayo Mountain.

Marketplace

Stop by Montague’s Deli to see the new look and daily offerings including four sandwiches under 10 grams of fat!  We now have four wraps and three paninis offered daily and a featured Panini or wrap offered daily

We changed our pizza too!  You can now enjoy our pizza while feeling just a bit healthier.  Our new self rising crust has ZERO TRANS FAT and is paired with our part skim mozzarella cheese.

We continue to use only Zero Trans Fat frying oil for all of our fried products.

Bits ‘n Bytes C-store

We are now open until 11:30pm Sunday-Thursday for your shopping convenience, plus we now accept credit cards!

DSU Myth Busters

1.  You can only use your meal plan in the Marketplace.

       a.  Busted! You can use your meal plan in the Marketplace, Java City, Bits ‘n Bytes C-store, Concessions, and select vending machines.

2.  Your meal plan carries over.

       a. Plausible! Your meal plan will carry over from Fall to Spring semester, but all funds need to be used by the end of Spring semester.  A meal plan is required each semester regardless of the carry over balance.

3. I can get pizza, grille and deli all day.

       a. Confirmed!  Montague’s Deli is open from 11am-7:30pm.  Grille and Bene Pizza are readily available during lunch (11am-1pm) and dinner (5pm-7pm) periods.  During the off peak times of 1pm-5pm, Grille and Bene Pizza are available “made to order” for the highest quality.  The average waiting time, depending on the item ordered, is 10-15 minutes.

4.  My meal plan will not last the whole semester.

    a. Plausible! Depending on your eating habits, your selected meal plan may not be enough for the semester.  All meal plans are designed for the average college student who eats 2 meals a day/5 days a week on campus.  Use our budget sheet as a reference.

5.   Once my meal plan is gone, I’ll starve.

   a. Busted! If your balance runs low, you can add Dining Dollars in any amount (minimum $25, purchase $100 or more and receive a 10% bonus).

6.   DSU Dining Services staff is friendly and open to my ideas.

    a. Confirmed! We like to become your family away from home.  We love to hear feedback as to how we can improve your experience and implement your ideas when feasible.

7.   There is no information about Dining Services available.

   a. Busted! Visit our website found at www.dsu.edu under Current Students>Student Affairs>Dining Services or contact our Food Service Director at Jennifer.hauf@dsu.edu
