I have worked at DSU since August, 2000. I am married and have four sons ages 25, 23, 20, and 18. I have a guide dog named Brandon and a cat named Ace. I grew up in the wonderful state of Indiana and am proud to be a Hoosier!  In my spare time I like to watch the Chicago Cubs, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Minnesota Vikings.  I also like to read books by John Grisham, Brad Thor, and Vince Flynn.

Erik Miller
Director of Alcohol and Other Drugs

I've served 10+ years at DSU as the Director of the Alcohol & Other Drug Office.  Married to my beautiful wife Kandi.  We celebrated the birth of our first son Austin in September 2006.  With Austin's arrival, we decided it best for me to take a leave of absence from performing music professionally, though Kandi and I still perform select shows as we share a love of music. We live in Colton, SD with our two retrievers, Nikki and Molly.  In April 2007, I was elected Mayor of Colton and currently serve in that capacity as well as on the Board of Directors of the Minnehaha County Economic Development Association.  Other shared interests in the Miller household include motorcycle touring and cheering on our beloved Chicago Bears.

Hello! I’m Patti Beck.  I received my BS in Education from Dakota State University (actually, it was still Dakota State “College” way back then).  My husband Jay, also a DSC Grad, is a painting contractor, and we are have two great kids.  Our daughter is a sophomore in college; majoring in Journalism and Cultural Anthropology.  Our son is in high school and is active in baseball, choir, and theater.  Some of my favorite pastimes are going to concerts, camping, gardening, and watching movies (my favorites include “Shaun of the Dead”, “A Mighty Wind”, any Billy Bob Thornton movies, and anything written or directed by the Coen Brothers).

I have been at DSU since July 2000.  I was born and raised in Michigan and have lived in South Dakota since November 1996.  I have been married to my husband Tony for almost 23 years.  I love pets and have a “too smart” dog “Mattie” and three cats.  I have one stepson and a son and daughter, all out of school.  My two grandchildren are 8 and 14 and live in Colorado.  I am a die-hard Bronco’s fan.  In my spare time I love to watch TV Reality shows, read mystery novels and shop.
