Richardson Hall is located on the eastern side of campus beside Emry hall.  The hall is named for Charles S. Richardson, the first president of the University, which was then known as Eastern State Normal School.  Built in 1971 the four floors of the hall have the capability to house 192 men. The hall staff consists of a resident director, four resident assistants, and a hall council consisting of a president, vice president/treasurer, secretary, four floor representatives and a food service representative.

Richardson Hall has a large open-area lobby on the main floor, with a big screen television and couches.  The lobby also has vending machines, student mailboxes and a main desk.  The resident director’s apartment is located towards the main area of the building.  A 24-hour resident-only access computer lab is equipped with  a laser printer and is connected to the campus network.

Each room in the hall is network ready for computer usage and the residence hall is also wireless.  Network hookup is available for a fee-for-service, as well as fee-for-service cable television.  These charges are included in the room charge as is local telephone service.  There are two closets in each room.  One side has a full-sized hanging closet with shelves above.  The other side has a half size hanging area with four drawers below.  There are two twin-size beds and two desks, each with a chair.

Laundry facilities, which are coin and card operated, are available in the lower level of Richardson Hall.  Each floor has a lounge area with cable TV and a study lounge.  A large kitchen is located on the third floor.  In this kitchen is a sink, stove, and microwave.

Along with Homecoming and holiday festivities, the hall also holds programs such as Monday Night Football and Singled Out.
