Safe Chemical Handling Practices Introduction: Whether you know it or not, you work with chemicals every day. Everything you touch, everything you breathe, in fact, you yourself are all chemicals. Unfortunately, there is a common misperception that “household” chemicals are somehow safe; the fact of the matter is that even household chemicals hold great potential to do harm, as is has sadly been demonstrated by recent terrorist activities. Just mixing the wrong household cleaners together can cause a reaction and release a substance that is so toxic, that it can kill you. In this web site, we will not be able to show you all hazards and train you in how to respond to any situation. The best we can hope for is to make you aware of what some of the hazards are, where to find information to protect yourself and others, and how to respond should something go wrong. Take this training seriously; it can save your life! |
