Chemical Hygiene Plan Emergency procedures: bodily injury The chemical hygiene plan describes how bodily injury should be handled. Essentially, bodily injury to be separated into two broad categories; minor or major. All injuries must be reported to the supervisor of the person who is injured. The supervisor will decide if the injuries minor, which can be treated immediately, or if requires more extensive treatment. If more extensive treatment is necessary, the individual may be escorted to the health services on campus, or an ambulance may be called. All injuries however, must be documented, with the documentation kept on hand in the building for an extensive period of time. Additional paperwork is necessary to the doctor if consulted. For these more extensive injuries, the doctor must be informed of the chemicals which the person was exposed to at the time of the injury. In return the physician is requested to offer a written opinion based on the examination which includes any recommendations for medical follow-up, the results of any examination including any tests that were performed, and any medical condition which may be revealed in the course of the examination that may put the person at increased risk as the result of chemical exposure. This information is to be used to help protect the safety of the individual alone and is not to be used for any other purpose. |
