Mathematics Major for Bachelor of
Science in Education
Students
in this program learn to integrate computer technology into both the
learning and teaching of mathematics. The core of mathematics
and education courses, together with a strong computer science
component, prepares graduates to teach both mathematics and computer
science at the secondary level. Students
majoring in this program develop a strong mathematical background in
a thirty-five hour mathematics core following the guidelines of the
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Mathematical
Association of America.
Majors must take MATH
123 as part of the system-wide
general education requirements.
Majors must take CIS 130 and CSC 150 as part of the information technology literacy
requirement.
