EXS/PE 180  FOUNDATIONS OF HPER. 2
An overview of physical education and the fitness-wellness fields that explores career options for each professional area.
 
EXS/PE 252  FUNDAMENTALS OF MOTOR LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT. 2
Investigation of the nature of motor learning, the movement performance capabilities of the learner, and factors that influence motor learning and performance.
 
EXS 291  INDEPENDENT STUDY. 1-3
A student independently studies an exercise science topic with help from instructor.
 
EXS 335  PROGRAM DESIGN AND ADMINISTRATION. 3
The emphasis will be on developmental aspects of program design and implementation and operational administrative matters including public relations, personnel management, budget and finance, and equipment and facilities planning.
Prerequisites: EXS 180.
 
EXS/PE 350  EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY. 3
Physical and chemical processes in the body and how they are acutely and chronically affected by exercise. Changes in the body that occur during various training programs and how to effect changes in physical fitness.
Prerequisites: BIOL 323
 
EXS/PE 353  KINESIOLOGY. 2
An understanding of human performance as it is affected by kinesiological, anatomical, and mechanical factors.
Prerequisite: BIOL 323.
 
EXS 356  INJURY REHABILITATION. 2
The rehabilitation techniques commonly used to regain and maintain wellness following an injury. The course would include exercise techniques, modalities used in rehabilitation, and how to maintain strength and wellness in the injured area following rehabilitation.
Prerequisite: PE 354.
 
EXS/PE 376  TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION 3
Software packages and applications in the fields of health, physical education and wellness will be researched.
Prerequisites: CSC 105.
 
EXS 395  PRACTICUM. 1-3
Practical instruction and supervised observation of students in a fitness center environment to include health/fitness testing and exercise prescription.
Prerequisite: PE 350.
 
EXS/PE 400  EXERCISE TESTING AND PRESCRIPTION. 3
Study of exercise testing and prescription designed to address goals and objectives for American College of Sports Medicine certification.
Prerequisite: PE 350.
 
EXS 401  FITNESS FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS. 3
A study of health and fitness programs and adapted physical activities for special populations including, but not limited to elderly, obese, diabetic, asthmatic and cardiac rehabilitation patients.
Prerequisites: EXS 350
 
EXS 453  HEALTH ASPECTS OF AGING. 3
An exploration of the aging process and an explanation of health factors affecting the elderly. Emphasis is given to the changes in the following areas of health: physical, mental, social, emotional and sexual.
 
EXS 491  INDEPENDENT STUDY. 1-4
Independent study of some aspect of exercise science
 
EXS 492  TOPICS. 1-3
Advanced courses offered on topics.
Prerequisities: PE 350
 
EXS 494  INTERNSHIP. 1-12
Practical experience in the area of Exercise Science. Prior application required.
Prerequisites: EXS 395
