A Parent Perspective

My son Jason is a senior at Dakota State University.  Jason started looking for a college during his senior year at Sioux Valley High School in Volga, South Dakota.  He was looking for a school where he could not only get a good education in computers and business, but also play football.  We visited Dakota State along with other regional Universities, and he chose DSU.  I know he has never regretted his choice. 

Gene Wockenfuss had just been named head football coach with Nate Holtz as defensive coach.  Both made all of us feel welcome and comfortable with Jason’s choice.  After one of the games, my sister-in-law commented on how the coaches were the kind of people you could feel comfortable leaving your son with.  Everyone I have met has been very approachable – from the resident assistants in the dorms to the President of the University.

I think Dakota State has been a good fit for my son.  He has fulfilled his dream of playing college football while getting a good education.
