TTL Academies returning to campus

Madison, SD -- The K-12 participants and Instructional staff of the Governor's Technology in Teaching and Learning Academy (TTL) will be returning to the Dakota State University campus for their fall follow up on October 9th - 8:00 - 5:00 for session I and on Oct 11th - 8:00 - 5:00 - Session 2. There are close to 200 participants in each session.

The TTL schedule for each daylong session is:

8:00 Registration, log in, individual work time

9:00 Enhancing Technical Skills - update to Office 2000 etc. Shared experiences in implementing their Multi-Disciplinary Units, Training Modules, and research question on Impact of Technology on Student Learning.

12:00 Lunch

1:00 Presentation on Participatory Action Research (PAR)

2:00

Return to their labs for:
- Continuation of Integration of Technology Activities
- Activities to internalize the concepts of PAR

4:00 Dismissal

5:00 Labs close

The TTL Academy program began in 1997 at Dakota State University. The success of this program has been the foundation for the

- continuance of the program for the past three years
- the Learning Organizations for Technology Integration (LOFTI) grant
- TTL for Administrators held at the University of South Dakota this summer for two weeks,
- TTL for Network Administrators which was held at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology this summer - a four week session.
- The Challenge Grant written by Business & Education Institute (BEI) at DSU
- A considerable number of inservices and credit classes offered by DSU or BEI in the K-12 School Communities.

The Academy now holds two sessions per summer at both Dakota State University and Black Hills State University. Each session holds 200 participants or a total of 800 for the summer.
