Dakota State University Reports Record Breaking Placement Rates Madison -- Dakota
State University officials reported a record-setting 97% overall placement
success for the Class of 1999. Several areas reported 100% placement:
Computer Science, Information Systems, English for Information Systems,
Elementary Education/Special Learning Behaviors, Health Information Management,
Respiratory Care, and Business Management.
Business Administration was close behind, at 94%. “Candidates with technology related degrees are
undoubtedly the most sought after group of graduates and continue to prompt
competition among employers. The
competitions has gotten so intense that employers are scurrying to schedule
on-campus recruiting visits eight months prior to graduation,” said Marie
Lohsandt, Director of Career and Placement Services at DSU. According to Lohsandt, the highest average salary was
reported in the Computer Science area at $46,900. The overall average salary for the Class of 1999 was $25,931. “There is no doubt that the market for new college
graduates with technical skills remains strong.
With the healthy economy and continued low unemployment, we expect that
employers will actively be scouting DSU’s campus for their new wave of
employees,” said Lohsandt. (end) |
