DSU Commencement to be held May 8 Madison Over 165 graduates will receive their diplomas during the 115th Commencement of Dakota State University. The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, at the DSU Fieldhouse. Delivering the Commencement Address will be Governor William Janklow. Governor Janklow is serving his fourth term as governor of South Dakota. With his 1998 re-election, he became the first to be elected four times as South Dakota governor. Now is his 13th year, he is also the longest-serving governor in the states history. Three individuals will be receiving the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Dr. James Peterson, a graduate of DSU in 1958, is a licensed psychologist and is Professor Emeritus of the University of Vermont. Leroy Thomas, a 1969 DSU graduate, was a founding member of Ensoniq Corporation, developers of affordable sound reproduction electronics. Dr. Zeno Van Erdewyk, who graduated from DSU in 1959, has been with DSU since 1967 and continues to serve as a Professor of Education. He has been an active member of the campus and community, as well as being involved in professional organizations. (end) |
