Dakota State Names New Football Coach
Madison,
SD
-- Dakota State University officials announced today the appointment of
Marc Bergan as Head Football Coach for the DSU Trojans.
It
was important to the University to move quickly with this decision.
During the past few seasons, Marc has shown significant leadership and
coaching skill while assisting Coach Hoffman.
We know he is ready to make this next step in his career, said Dr.
Jerald Tunheim, President of Dakota State University.
Coach
Bergan has been at Dakota State University for the past four years.
He has served as the assistant head football coach, offensive
coordinator, and head softball coach. Bergan
received his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and his Masters from
Northwest Missouri State.
One
of the strengths for Marc is that he has been a part of the rebuilding process
for the team. He has been
instrumental in the recruiting process, a key part in turning the football
program around, said Dr. Judy Dittman, interim Athletic Director. Dittman added that she is happy to have him in the head coach
position and DSU is looking forward to continued success in our football
program.
I
look at this as a great opportunity to continue doing what we have been
accomplishing the past four years. It
will be an exciting time for the University as we move to the DAC-10
conference, said Bergan. I am
really looking forward to continue working with the football players we have
here and the new recruits coming in.
Bergan
will begin his new duties immediately.
