CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON DSU PARKING FACILITY (Madison, August 24th) Construction began today on Dakota State University's new parking facility on Washington Avenue south of Heston Hall, the University's main administration building. When completed, the new facility will provide nearly 100 additional off-street parking spaces that are needed to accommodate the ever-growing commuter student population. The project, contracted through Amert Construction, should be completed no later than November 1st. The parking lot project is being funded by a private donation through the Dakota State University Foundation from Dr. G. Donald Montgomery of California. Dr. Montgomery, a South Dakota native, has been a strong supporter of Dakota State University for the past few years. His contributions have financed a large number of academic scholarships through the G. Donald and Marian James Montgomery Endowment. Dr. Montgomery has also contributed the furnishings and décor for a new lounge and meeting room in Heston Hall. The lounge is used by admissions personnel to meet with prospective students and their families who are considering Dakota State. In addition, Dr. Montgomery recently financed new uniforms for the DSU Kingsman Band. George Loomer and Connie Sinclair, both of Madison, nephew and grandniece of Dr. Montgomery represented him at yesterday's groundbreaking ceremony. |
