Mundt Foundation Funds Scholarship Program

Madison -- Dakota State University officials released today the Karl E. Mundt Historical and Educational Foundation will be funding the scholarships for the Internet based Fast Track Program.

The College Fast Track Program, in its second year, enables Junior and Senior high school students to get a head start on their college education. Credits also may meet high school graduation requirements and can be transferred to most colleges and universities.

The scholarship program, through the Mundt Foundation, will fund half the tuition for up to three credits for the first 50 high school students enrolling each semester.

"The Fast Track Program had a successful initial year. Dakota State University enrolled 50 high school students from 30 school districts," said Deb Gearhart, Director of Distance Education. "It was great news to hear of the continuation of the program by the Mundt Foundation."

"Senator Mundt had a sincere interest in education for all South Dakotans. This program is an innovative way to link qualified high school students with higher education. We’re pleased we can help make this work," stated Margie Phillips, President of the Mundt Foundation.
