Computer Careers In Demand, DSU Programs Fit the Bill Madison -- Recent employment projections by the Department of Labor indicate that careers which require computer-related skills will see the fastest growth through the year 2006. "The three fastest-growing occupations database administrators, computer engineers and systems analysts require computer-related skills and overall those occupations requiring high levels of training will have the fastest growth," said Secretary of Labor Alexis M. Herman. Dakota State University prides itself on its computer and information systems degree programs. Dakota State has offered a completely computer integrated curriculum for all of its degree programs since 1984. "We feel we are on the right track, and it is obvious students agree with us. Last year, our Freshmen class showed strong growth and, right now, Fall 98 applications are ahead of last years pace," said Mike Mutziger, Director of High School Relations. The Department of Labor is also predicting that over 100,000 computer-related jobs will be created annually and that the United States is currently only producing 25,000 bachelor degree graduates for these positions. With DSUs career placement rates at 100% in computer fields for the past several years, the university is obviously filling some of these employment needs and is recruiting new students for the future. "Enrollment for next Fall is promising and we urge anyone interested in a computer integrated program to contact us," said Mutziger. (end) |
