Computer-driven DSU Again Leads the Pack

Madison, SD – Fall 1998 Enrollment figures at Dakota State University are up 36% from last year, with a final headcount at 1831. Dakota State University increased by 492 students.

There were a number of contributing factors for DSU’s increase:

  • A record freshman class – in size and academic quality.
  • A record number of teachers who received instruction in applying technology in their classroom.
  • Distance Education saw a 57% increase from last Fall. There was a 143% increase in remote students, those who are not on DSU’s campus.
  • DSU’s outstanding placement rates in computer science, information systems, business, education, the sciences, English and Healthcare careers.

"DSU welcomed 300 first time freshman to campus this Fall, our largest number since the mission change in 1984. Students understand the value of a computer-technology enhanced education and Dakota State has distinguished itself as one of the best schools in the nation in providing just such an education," said Amy Crissinger, Director of Admission at DSU.

South Dakota’s public universities saw an overall increase of 4% for Fall 98.
