DSU COMMENCEMENT TO BE HELD MAY 9 Over 165 graduates will receive their diplomas during the 114th Commencement of Dakota State University. The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, at the DSU Fieldhouse. In addition to recognition of graduates, several special awards will be presented. Alumni from the classes of 1948, 1943, 1938, 1933, 1928, and 1923 have been invited to attend the ceremony to receive a special 50+ year diploma. Among those receiving this special alumni recognition will be Agnes Berther of Madison, Class of 1928. Receiving the Distinguished Alumnus Award will be John Allen Schlueter. A 1964 graduate of DSU, Mr. Schlueter currently serves as Superintendent at Orchard, Nebraska, Public Schools. The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Helen W. Simmons of Madison, who served as DSU Registrar from 1964 until her retirement in 1982. "Dakota State University is pleased to count many exemplary leaders among its graduates and friends," stated DSU President Jerald Tunheim. "It gives us great pleasure to recognize Mr. Schlueter and Mrs. Simmons for their dedicated service to their profession." Delivering the Commencement Address will be Mr. David Robino, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Gateway. Mr. Robino is responsible for directing the companys human resources, community relations, the Gateway Foundation, and corporate administrative functions. -end- |
