Instructors Present At Assembly in Health Information

Madison – Rose Goeden and Joyce Havlik, instructors at Dakota State University, were presenters this summer at the Assembly on Education Symposium. The assembly is an annual national convention held for professionals in Health Information Management who are in the education field. The assembly is arranged by the American Health Information Management Association and has an annual attendance of 150 educators.

Goeden and Havlik’s presentation focused on distance education and where DSU is at in the development of our HIA program in distance education. Goeden was also a panel member for a discussion titled "Examples of the Virtual Classroom."

"Dakota State University is a "pioneer" in the distance HIM education field, and we appreciated the opportunity to enhance our knowledge and gain recognition for DSU in the area of distance education," said Goeden. "The Virtual Classroom is an exciting new pathway for educators to reach students who may not have the opportunities to attend current on-campus classes."
