DSUs Fall Enrollment Leads the Pack Madison According to enrollment figures released today by the South Dakota Board of Regents, Dakota State University was the only institution to show an increase in enrollments for this Fall. "This is big news for Dakota State. All of last year, we reported strong application numbers and our final numbers prove what we were saying all along. Our programs and use of computers are unique and in demand. Prospective students are recognizing this fact, and we expect this trend continue," said Mike Mutziger, Director of High School Relations at DSU. Dakota States final headcount came in at 1,326 an increase of almost 8% from last year. Total credit hours are also up resulting in a full time equivalent of 1,031, which is an 11% increase. DSUs traditional freshman class is also at a record number of 250 students. That is 68 students more than in 1996, an increase of 37%. According to ACT/SAT figures, the 1997 freshman class is one of the most academically prepared that DSU has had in its history. On average, the entire system showed a 3% drop in enrollments. (end) |
