Enrollments Strong at Dakota State

Madison -- Dakota State University is pleased to announce that its enrollment figures for Spring 1997 are strong and continues on an upward trend. According to a Board of Regents press release issued yesterday, Dakota State’s headcount enrollment was 1,061. Overall enrollment of students, including those taking Internet courses, is greater than last year.

In Distance Education, the Internet courses had their highest enrollments ever, at 101 students, a 33% increase from the Fall. Dakota State University is leading the distance education effort in South Dakota and hopes to offer complete degree programs online in the future.

Fall 1997 admission applications are also up for the year. The Enrollment Services Office is reporting application numbers are well above last year. "Our programs are unique and prepare our students for the careers of the 21st century. DSU’s application surge is clearly indicative of this fact," said Mike Mutziger, Director of High School Relations at Dakota State University.
