Dakota State University Plans New Degree

Dakota State has been given the green light by the South Dakota Board of Regents (BOR) to start developing an undergraduate degree in computer game design.

The degree would combine course work from art, music, English, digital media and computer programming.  It would be a joint offering from through the College of Business and Information Systems and the College of Arts and Sciences.

The degree would prepare students for a variety of careers. In addition to the entertainment field, computer gaming applications are used for training in business, government and education.

Dakota State officials will begin to prepare a plan for the new degree and bring specifics back to the Board of Regents at a later date. If approved, this degree would be the first of its kind in the South Dakota public university system.
