DSU Students are Technology Interns at SD Legislature

Dakota State University students Bo Ilse and Shaun Schreiner will be serving as technology interns with the South Dakota Legislature in Pierre beginning January 7. Ilse and Schreiner are students in the DSU Center of Excellence.

As interns, the two will provide hands-on technology training to the legislators and assist with hardware and software issues.  The students serve as interns to the legislature for the first three weeks of the session, from January 7-January 25.

Students are chosen as interns by the DSU Center of Excellence along with the College of Business and Information Systems and DSU Computing Services.  Candidates must possess both advanced technology skills and interpersonal skills.

This is the fourth year that Dakota State University has been providing technology interns to the Legislative Research Council (LRC.)  They work for and report to the LRC while in Pierre. Costs for the program are funded by the LRC in an agreement with Dakota State.

Ilse, from Pipestone, MN, is a sophomore at DSU, majoring in computer information systems.  It is his second year as an intern. Schreiner, from Mitchell, SD, is a sophomore majoring in computer science and is in his first year as an intern.
