SPEARFISH, S.D. – Dakota State University is broadening its outreach in high-tech computing with a new certificate program. University officials said the 12 credit-hour program is intended for individuals not currently enrolled in college who want to expand their computer science skills into high-performance computing.

The new certificate program, available this fall, prepares individuals to work in high performance computing environments and to deal with the demands of scientific and research computing. In June, the Board of Regents authorized a new minor in this same field for Dakota State University.

The certificate will be especially attractive to people who already have a background in computer science, computer information systems, and computer and network security, and wish to expand their knowledge base and employment opportunities in high-tech computing, high-speed networking, and research.
