DSU Professors in South Dakota Museum Exhibition

Dakota State University art professors Alan Montgomery and Joseph Staudenbaur are participating in the South Dakota Museum exhibition, South Dakota College & University Faculty Art Invitational. The exhibition recognizes the artistic talents college and university professors and opens with an artists’ reception at SDSU in Brookings April 27.

The exhibit features a comprehensive range of artistic mediums and styles. Professor Montgomery’s work includes a painting from a series of ongoing work that reflects contemporary themes of place, time, and spirituality.  According to Montgomery’s artist statement, “I am interested in states of flux and syncretic space---remembered and imagined spaces."

Professor Staudenbaur’s work includes several color photographs selected from a series of urban landscapes produced in New York City.  Stuadenbaur’s artist statement reads in part, “Renewal is the operating principle in urban landscapes. The [compositional] elements operate like a cool arrow of time; a no repeat universe.”

A statewide traveling exhibition is being planned following the show’s closing in July 22. More information: www.southdakotaartmuseum.com
