Guest Science Lecturers Today

At 1:00 pm, a brief introduction of Physics with Ultra-Cold Neutrons (UCN) at ILL will be given to a general audience in the Mundt Library.  A reception will follow.

At 4:00 pm, a presentation will be made to physics students, instructors, and others interested in the scope of fundamental physics studies with neutrons.  The main instruments provided for such studies will be described as well as some past and current flagship experiments with ultra-cold neutrons -- lifetime, electric dipole moment, and quantum states.  The properties and production of UCN will be described in detail.
