DSU Respiratory Care Program Graduation

The Dakota State University Respiratory Care program at Rapid City Regional Hospital will graduate seven students May 11.  They will be honored with a reception at the hospital.

The 2007 class includes from Rapid City:  CaTina Cavanaugh, Gaye Chercus, Susie Geiser, and Andrea Reinicke.  Other area graduates include:  Amanda Harms, Black Hawk; Jillian Thompson, Hill City; and Emily Tibbitts, Spearfish.

The Respiratory Care program is based at Dakota State University in Madison, SD.  A second teaching site in Rapid City was opened in 2005 and is affiliated with Rapid City Regional Hospital. The program offers associate and bachelor’s degrees in respiratory therapy.

According to national studies, there is a shortage of respiratory therapists. The majority of the graduates from the Rapid City Regional program have chosen to stay and work at the hospital.
