DSU Announces Placement Rates Dakota State University (DSU) announced a 95% overall placement rate for the graduating class of 2005-2006, with several programs achieving 100% placement. According to Dr. Marie Lohsandt, Director of Career Services at DSU, the job market continues to improve with expanded on-campus recruiting efforts giving the class of 2005-06 increased job opportunities. “Although the spring semester traditionally offers graduates with opportunities to interview for jobs, this year the fall semester presented just as many, or more, on-campus interviewing opportunities.” Lohsandt said employers used aggressive recruiting efforts and increased offers to attract the class of 2005-06 to their organizations. “The fact that many employers, when asked, are willing to come to campus to conduct interviews is a strong indication to DSU graduates that they have the skill sets employers are seeking.” Programs that achieved 100% placement included Business Management, Computer Graphics, E-Commerce, Multi-Media Web Development, Respiratory Therapy, Health Information Administration, Exercise Science, Elementary Education and Special Learning and Behavioral Problems, and Secondary Education. Geographically, 79% of the graduates placed in their field chose to remain in South Dakota, down slightly from 82% last year. The data for the placement report is derived from follow-up surveys and direct contact with the graduation class of 2006. The placement percentages are based on graduates who report accepting employment related to their field of study.
