Dakota State University Student Launches Consumer-Oriented Online Magazine

Dakota State University senior Matthew Paulson combined his money management know-how and his writing skills to launch an online magazine, AmericanConsumerNews.com.  The magazine is designed to provide South Dakota consumers with a new source of information to help make better financial decisions.

Paulson got his start writing as a freshman in college when he served as the news editor of DSU’s campus newspaper, The Trojan Times. He has always been a money savvy individual and hopes to help others make more informed financial decisions.

American Consumer News will feature topics such as dealing with debt, money saving tips, real estate, investing, and insurance. The online magazine will be available for readers online free at http://www.americanconsumernews.com/ and as an RSS feed (really simple syndication.)  The publication will also create a number of consumer guides that are available for its readers in electronic book form.

Paulson is working through a newly formed organization at Dakota State University, called the Center for TechnoEntrepreneurism, which is providing logistical support, work-space and seed money to students who wish to start technology based businesses.  The Center for TechnoEntrepreneurism was founded in the fall of 2007 by a joint venture between DSU and the Lake Area Improvement Corporation (LAIC) in Madison.  The center is directed by Dr. Josh Pauli, Assistant Professor in the College of Business and Information Systems and oversight is provided by an 8-person Board of Advisors made up of four DSU professors and four LAIC board members.
