Dakota State Football Coach Resigns Nate Holtz, head football coach at Dakota State
University, has resigned. Holtz came to DSU as an assistant coach in
2002 and was named head coach in 2004. He led the Trojans to an
overall record of 11-20 as head coach in three seasons.
“We appreciate the hard work that Coach Holtz put into the football program over the past five years,” said DSU Athletic Director Gene Wockenfuss. “We will miss his passion for the game and the enthusiasm he displayed in recruiting players for Dakota State. We wish him the best for the future.” Holtz said he was looking forward to new challenges and thanked Wockenfuss and DSU President Dr. Knowlton for giving him the opportunity to coach at the university. A search for a new head football coach will start immediately. Trojan assistant coach Barry Rave will coordinate the DSU football program until a replacement can be found for Holtz. Another assistant coach, Scott Courter, has also resigned to take the position of offensive coordinator at South East Okalahoma State University.
