Fulbright Specialist Visits DSU, Offers Free Islam Lectures

The public is invited to free talks on Islam on the next three Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Science Center Auditorium at Dakota State University in Madison. Fulbright Specialist Smita Dalvi, who will visit DSU April 8-29, will be the guest lecturer at Dr. Joseph Walwik’s course, "The U.S., Islam and the Muslim World."

She will speak on The World of Islamic Art and Architecture on April 10, The Aesthetics of Islam on April 17, and Indo-Islamic Art and Architecture on April 24. Ms. Dalvi is Assistant Professor of Islamic Art and Architecture at Pillais College of Architecture in Mumbai, India. In addition to her appearances at DSU in Madison, she may visit local organizations and nearby campuses. The U.S. Department of State’s “Direct Access to the Muslim World” program, which supports greater coverage of the Middle East and Islam at American universities, is sponsoring Ms. Dalvi’s visit.
