Dakota State Baseball Head
Coach Notches 300th Win
Dolan and the Trojans have averaged over 30 wins per season in his six year tenure at DSU. Prior to Dolan’s arrival, the Trojan baseball team was 1-35 and 5-99 the previous three seasons. The Trojans have been nationally ranked in the past five years, reaching as high as #7 out of the 314 baseball programs in NAIA baseball. Before coming to Dakota State, Dolan coached at Itasca Community College (Grand Rapids, MN) and complied a 51-14 record. From there he went became an associate head coach at St. Andrew’s College in Laurinburg, NC from 1996-1997. In 1998-2000, Dolan was the head coach at the Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, NC and turned around another struggling program that was 12-34 prior to his arrival. He coached that team to its first ever NCAA Division II national ranking. Dolan also has coached at the American Legion levels where he won eight consecutive league titles and amassed a 240-81 overall record with the Cold Spring Post 425 Springers. He also captured a South Dakota American Legion State Championship coaching the Sioux Falls Post 15 East team to a 44-13 record in 2004. “I guess it shows two things,” remarked Coach Dolan. “Number one I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by some great people; players, assistant coaches, administrators, alums, and boosters. It’s really a family effort that the head coach gets way too much of the credit for. And number two, I’ve just been coaching a long time. “ Nick Huntimer,
