Third Annual DSU Scholarship Car Show May 4 

Dakota State University’s College of Arts and Sciences will sponsor the third annual “Scholarship Car Show” Friday, May 4, in the parking lot of the Karl Mundt Library on the DSU campus. The show will begin at 11:00 am and conclude promptly at 1:00 pm. The car show is a fund raising event for the DSU Foundation and all profits from the car show will go directly into student scholarships.

 The car show, begun in 2005, supports a student scholarship in honor of Dr. Eric Johnson, Dean Emeritus of the College of Arts and Sciences, who retired after thirty-six years at Dakota State. Johnson, himself a car buff, will show both his classic 1976 Corvette, the “last of the Stingrays,” and his 1923 Ford T-Bucket hot rod. He may also unveil his latest hotrod.

 This year’s registration fee is $25.00 and car enthusiasts and collectors from across the region are encouraged to attend.

 Eleven trophies in a variety of categories will be awarded, including “Best of Show.” Trophy winners will be determined by the number of votes they receive. “Votes” will take the form of dollars of scholarship money either collected or pledged. Trophies will be awarded at 12:30 pm sharp.  Brats, burgers, chips and soft drinks will be available for purchase at the show and all profits (votes, donations and food sales) will go directly to the DSU Foundation for student scholarships.

 Entrants are encouraged to bring their cars to the Mundt Library parking lot, on North Egan Avenue, Madison, prior to 11:00 am on May 4. This year’s show will take place rain or shine.
