DSU Announces Placement Rates Dakota State University (DSU) announced a 95% overall placement rate for the graduating class of 2004-2005, with several programs achieving 100% placement. According to Marie Lohsandt, Director of Career Services at DSU, an improved job market and expanded on-campus recruiting efforts gave the class of 2004-05 increased job opportunities. “The job market appears to be on the upswing as evidenced by employers’ more aggressive recruiting efforts and increased salary offers. One would expect spring recruiting to be strong, but this year the fall semester presented just as many, or more, on-campus interviewing opportunities.” Lohsandt said that the fact that many employers, when asked, are willing to come to campus to conduct interviews was a strong indication to DSU graduates that they had the skill sets employers are seeking. Programs that achieved 100% placement included Applications Programming, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, English for Information Systems, Exercise Science, Health Information Administration, Multi-Media/Web Design, Respiratory Care, Professional Accountancy, and Secondary Education. Geographically, 82% of the graduates placed in their field chose to remain in South Dakota, down slightly from 85% last year. The data for the placement report is derived from follow-up surveys and direct contact with the graduation class of 2005.
