Dakota State University Charters Honor Society

Dakota State University has chartered a new honor society.  Phi Eta Sigma is the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first-year college and university students in all disciplines.  The society was founded in 1937 and has chapters on 353 campuses across the United States.

To be elected to membership of Phi Eta Sigma, students must have a cumulative grad point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of any first year, full-time curricular period, carry a normal academic load toward a bachelor’s degree, and rank in the upper 20 percent of their class.

Dakota State inducted 35 members into the new society at the charter night ceremony.  DSU faculty advisors for Phi Eta Sigma are Wayne Pauli, and Stephen Krebsbach.

National Phi Eta Sigma Grand Secretary-Treasurer Jack Sagabiel, was present at the ceremony. He recently completed many years’ service as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of College Honor Societies, and continues to represent Phi Eta Sigma in the organization as president emeritus.
