New Faculty Join Dakota State University  

Dakota State University has eight new full-time faculty on campus this fall.  Dakota State also added several part-time instructors to the faculty ranks, as well as several staff positions. 

 Full-time faculty appointments include:

 Scott Courter, Instructor/Football Offensive Coordinator. Coulter was previously at Austin College where he was the assistant football coach. Courter has a Masters of Education in Recreation from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor’s of Science in Recreation from Northwest Missouri State University.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Mark Geary, Assistant Professor of Education in the College of Education. Dr. Geary has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Central Florida. He was most recently working at Pace High School in Cincinnati where he was involved with the developing curriculum and provided guidance counseling.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Vicki Johnson, Assistant Professor of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Johnson received a Doctorate in Teaching and Learning from the University of North Dakota, a Master of Science in Social Science from North Dakota State University and Bachelor of Arts in Social and Behavioral Science and History from Dickinson State University. She was most recently the Assistant Professor for the School of Education at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

 

 

 

Chris Olson, Instructor of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business and Information Systems.  Olson has a Master of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Dakota State.  He has been serving as an adjunct instructor for DSU for the past year.

 

 

 

 

 Dr. Barbara Szcherbinska, Assistant Professor of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Szcherbinska received her Doctorate from the University of South Carolina and Master of Science from the University of Wroclaw in Poland. She was most recently a graduate teaching assistant at the University of South Carolina in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Amit Deokar, Assistant Professor in the College of Business and Information Systems. Dr. Deokar was previously an instructor and research associate with the University of Arizona. He received his Doctorate in Management Information Systems and his Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arizona and his Bachelor of Engineering from V. J. Technological Institute in Mumbai, India.

 

 

 

Don Heier, Instructor of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business and Information Systems.  Heier received a Master of Science in Information Systems with a Networking Specialization from Dakota State and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from SDSU. Heier has experience working with information technology, most recently at Dacotah Bank in Aberdeen.
