Hawley Resigns as Dean of College of Education

Dr. Tom Hawley, Dean of the College of Education at Dakota State University has resigned effective February 1, 2007. He has accepted the position of Dean of Education for Northern State University in Aberdeen.  Dr.  Hawley served as Dean of the College of Education at Dakota State since 1997. From February until July 2003, Dr. Hawley served as Interim Secretary of Education for the state of South Dakota.

 A national search will be initiated to name a replacement.  In the meantime, Dr. Judy Dittman will serve as interim dean.   Dr. Dittman has been at Dakota State since fall 1978. She has served in various capacities at the University, including coordinator for Academic Assessment, Secondary Education Coordinator, Coordinator for Physical Education and Exercise Science, and Director of Athletics. Dr. Dittman served as Interim Dean for the College of Education in 2003 when Dr. Hawley was Interim Secretary of Education.
