Dakota State Faculty Recognized for Distance Instruction The South Dakota Board of Regents has recognized four faculty members from the state’s public university system with the Faculty Recognition Awards for Excellence in E-Learning for their work in delivering quality instruction by distance. Of the four, two are from Dakota State University. The faculty member named best overall was also from DSU. Maureen Murphy, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Science, earned the “best overall” in the competition for her Introduction to Literature course. Rose Goeden, an instructor in the College of Business and Information Systems, was recognized for her course in Medical Terminology. To be eligible for the Faculty Recognition Awards for Excellence in E-Learning, the university course must have been completed in the 2005 calendar year and be delivered by interactive video or the Internet. The two other award winners were from South Dakota State University and Black Hills State. Each winner receives a $1,000 cash award, and Murphy as the best overall winner received an additional $1,000 award. The faculty members will be presented their awards by the Board of Regents at its October 19-20 meeting on the Dakota State University campus in Madison.
