Dakota State Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jeff Dittman Honored
by South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association

Dakota State University Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jeff Dittman has been named the South Dakota Women’s College Basketball Coach of the Year by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

Dittman’s team captured the 2005-2006 DAC Regular Season Co-Championship and he took his team to the NAIA “Elite Eight” round for the second time in the last six years.  This year, the team completed their season with a 22-11 record, tied for third best for most wins in the DSU team record book, and lost to the 2006 eventual NAIA Women’s Basketball Champions, Hastings College of Nebraska, in the NAIA “Elite Eight” round.

Dittman has been at Dakota State for 13 years.  During the 2005-2006 season, he recorded his 200th win over Dordt at DSU Field House in February.  He currently has a coaching record of 203-179 at Dakota State.  Dittman’s teams have qualified for post-season play in eight of the past nine seasons.  The Lady T’s have been ranked in the NAIA “Top Twenty” seven of the last eight seasons.

Dakota State won back-to-back conference titles with 25-8 and 23-9 records respectively in 2000 and 2001.  Also in those years, the Lady T’s advanced to the NAIA National Tournament and finished in the “Elite Eight” and “Sweet Sixteen” rounds.  In 2003, DSU won the DAC-10 post-season tournament and received its third trip to the National Tournament in four years with 20-12 record.  The last six squads have produced two All-Americans, two Honorable Mention All-Americans, and thirteen All-Conference players.
