125th Anniversary Coke Cans Unveiled

Dakota State University unveiled commemorative Coke cans at a special ceremony on campus Thursday. The cans have the 125th DSU anniversary logo on them and the phrase, “Dakota State University—Celebrating 125 Years.”

Approximately 12,000 12-packs were produced and will be available in this area.  Mark Martin, Coca-Cola’s General Manager from Sioux Falls, along with Jeff Nelson, Coke’s educational sales rep, and others from Coke, were on hand to help unveil the cans to a DSU crowd that included students, faculty, staff and alumni.

The Coke cans are one of the ways DSU is celebrating its 125th anniversary.  Steve Shirley, DSU’s Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs began working with Martin and others at Coke last summer with the idea of the commemorative cans.  “The cans were produced at no cost to the university,” says Shirley, adding that the cans are a great marketing tool for DSU.   Coke is a major supporter of Dakota State University, including being one of the sponsors of the new electronic scoreboards and message boards at DSU.
