Dakota State Graduate Named AARC Fellow Steve Sittig, RRT-NPS, was named an American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) Fellow at the International Respiratory Care Congress in Las Vegas in December. Sittig is a 1986 graduate of the respiratory care program at Dakota State University. He is a Pediatric Transport Clinical Specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Established in 1998, the AARC Fellowship program recognizes respiratory care professionals who have reached a level of distinction in their career field. Fellows are nominated by their peers and must meet award criteria such as educational achievement, validation of competency through advanced credentials, research initiatives, publication, and clinical initiatives. Honorees can use the FAARC designation following their names (Fellow, American Association for Respiratory Care.) The International Respiratory Care Congress attracted over 7,500 participants from 39 countries. Acting Surgeon General Rear Adm. Kenneth P. Moritsugu, MD, MPH, provided the keynote address.
