Nominees Announced
for Top Student Employees Dakota State University has announced the nominees for the top student employees. Winners will be announced during National Student Employment Week, April 11-15 and recognized at the DSU Honors Banquet later in the spring. National Student Employment Week is sponsored by the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) and the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA). The week is designed to recognize on-campus student employees and highlight the importance of the student work experience. On campus employers were invited to nominate their student employees for “On Campus Student Employee of the Year”. Because Dakota State has such a large number of students who work off-campus, the DSU Student Employment Office chose to mirror the NSEA program and invited Madison area employers to recognize their student employees by nominating them for “Off Campus Student Employee of the Year”. On campus student employees nominated for 2005, their hometowns, and the departments they work in are: Kristy Ahrendt, Madison, DSU Assessment Office; Eric Brown, Aberdeen, Karl Mundt Library; Megan Buck, Crooks, DSU Enrollment Services; Katie Deinert, Mount Vernon, DSU Student Services; Lindsey Fiebelkorn, Gregory, Madison Community Center; Laura Howard, Andover, MN, DSU Student Services; Brooke McNaughton, Presho, DSU Career Services; Katie Mergan, Dell Rapids, DSU Physical Plant; Tom Nielsen, Madison, DSU Athletics; Kris Norton, Madison, DSU Production Center; Charles Pearson, Ortley, Karl Mundt Library; Lisa Peterson, Montrose, DSU College of Education; Cassie Tobin, Woonsocket, DSU Student Services. Off campus student employees nominated for 2005, their hometowns, and the businesses that they work at are: Jennifer Grimm, Madison, The Movie Guy; Rachel Kroll, Oldham, Assist Financial Services/Continental Transportation Services; Jason Nielsen, Yankton, Rosebud Manufacturing; Emily Neville, Madison, Wells Fargo Bank; Bryan Novacek, Miller, Clarke Realty; Robin Paige, Arlington, Professional Training Services; Shane Wassink, Edgerton, MN, Madison Pizza Ranch. The students selected as Student Employee of the Year from both on and off campus will receive a $50 cash award and certificates of recognition from DSU and MASEA. The winners will also receive an additional $50 cash award donated by T&R Electric of Colman. The on campus winner will go on to be considered at state, regional, and national levels. Last year, Dakota State’s on campus Student Employee of the Year, Nick Huntimer, went on to be selected as the state winner for South Dakota. Dakota State University students who worked off campus in fiscal year 2004 yearned $2.36 million. On campus students earned $0.58 million through federal work study and student labor. |
