Beck Named Student Support Specialist Beck Named to Newly Created Position at DSU Patti Beck has been named Student Support Specialist at Dakota State University. This is a newly created position, developed under a Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant. As Student Support Specialist, Beck will work with faculty and staff in the development of programs designed to help promote success in DSU students. She will assist students with basic study skills, with time management, and in making positive personal choices. She will also be working with an early warning system that will alert students to potential academic problem areas and monitor them when extra help is needed. The position will be part of the Student Development Office which includes Director Keith Bundy and Retention Specialist Meghan Peterson. Beck is a 1985 graduate of Dakota State. She has been with the university for 10 years, most recently as the DSU Student Employment Coordinator. In that position she worked with area employers to hire students, and advised students on both on-campus and off-campus job opportunities.
