DSU to Host Gaming Convention The Dakota State University Gaming Club will host a gaming convention, Saturday November 5 and Sunday, November 6, from 9am-11pm at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse. The convention, dubbed NanoCon, is free and open to the public. This is the third annual NanoCon at Dakota State. Attendees can take part in gaming tournaments, play board and other games, bring their own games from home to play, or watch as others play. There are opportunities to participate through costume contests and classes and demonstrations. Featured events included RPGA gaming all day, both days; magic demonstrations; The Gathering tournaments; displays of Dungeons and Dragons miniatures and Axis and Allies miniatures; and Paint-n-Take and Speed Painting events. Other games include Vampire; The Masquerade L.A.R.P; Avalon Hill tournaments; Chez’Geek; and Looney Labs. DSU Professor Dr. Richard Bleil will also be presenting a chemistry extravaganza. Two well know artists will be at the convention. Fredd Gorham, illustrator, web designer, and graphic artist, will have his work on display and will be doing portraits of convention attendees. Thane Barnier will be displaying his metal miniatures and giving demonstrations and classes on painting. HobbyTown USA and Reaper Mini’s will be at the convention with products for sale and there will be concessions onsite.
