DSU Begins Advanced
Connections Beginning in mid July, Dakota State University will be implementing a series of training programs for the faculty and staff called Advanced Connections. The Advanced Connections program was developed by the educational consulting firm Noel-Lovitz, and is used by university campuses to help them become more service-oriented. “Dakota State is well known for our personal approach to our students,” said Nancy Grassel, DSU Director of Human Resources. “By providing this training to our employees, DSU is once again setting itself apart. Our goal is to provide the best customer service by going this extra step.” The program is presented in three sessions of three hours each, with participants meeting once a week for three weeks. DSU President Dr. Doug Knowlton is encouraging everyone on campus to attend the training sessions. “With the priorities we have set in the DSU strategic plan for recruitment [of new students] and retention [of returning students], this activity is of outmost importance.” Dr. Knowlton went on to say that the Advanced Connections training will “take this campus to a whole new level of service that people will notice and talk about.” The sessions will be facilitated by a group of DSU employees. Known as the DSU Journey Team, they represent a cross-section of the more than 200 employees at Dakota State.
