Dakota State University AWARDED INITIAL ACCREDITATION

Douglas G. Viehland, Executive Director of the ACBSP, spoke of the accomplishment of this initial accreditation, “Dakota State University has shown their commitment to teaching excellence by participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation, and then continuing the process of quality improvement. This initial accreditation is evidence of DSU’s commitment to quality business programs."

Dakota State President Dr. Doug Knowlton was pleased with the ACBSP accreditation. “This is another indication of the increasing excellence of our educational programs here at DSU,” said Knowlton. “National accreditation takes a significant amount of self examination and a continual improvement process. Our nationally accredited business programs and our special integration of technology in those programs will make these programs even more attractive to potential students.”

For institutions that achieve initial accreditation for their business schools and programs, this attainment certifies that the teaching and learning processes within that institution meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP. The ratification of initial accreditation by ACBSP covers a ten-year period during which time Dakota State University must continually reaffirm its quality through periodic reports.

ACBSP’s mission is to establish, promote, and recognize educational practices that contribute to the continuous quality improvement of business education programs, teaching of business courses, and student learning outcomes in colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad. ACBSP was established in 1988 and is the only business accrediting organization for both two year and four year institutions. ACBSP has 394 member institutions and is located at 7007 College Blvd, Suite 420, Overland Park, Kansas, 66211. For more information go to www.acbsp.org.
