DSU OUTREACH SERVICES REORGANIZED Dakota State University has announced the formation of Technology Outreach Services. In making the announcement, President Doug Knowlton stated, “This new organization is intended to reach out to the larger, extended community to provide technology services and expertise. The organization is intended to link businesses, industries, educational institutions, and governmental entities with our faculty, staff and students. The new outreach organization will focus on consultation and direct services relative to information technology applications and is clearly within the scope of DSU’s computer/information technology mission.” The newly formed Technology Outreach Services consists of the Center for Remote Enterprise System Hosting (CRESH), Non-Profit Grants Management Institute (NGMI), K-12 Data Center, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), and a new outreach group called Technology Support Services, providing some of the services formerly provided by Business & Education Institute. Ethelle Bean, Director of the Karl Mundt Library, has been asked to serve as Interim Director of Technical Outreach Services. In this capacity, she will work with the outreach projects staff to further align these activities within the educational mission of DSU. Ms. Bean remarked, “I’m very excited about this opportunity to extend DSU’s technology and service mission to our off-campus constituencies.” Knowlton stated, “I want to thank Ethelle for taking on this project and thank all the staff involved with these projects for their understanding as we go through this reorganization process. The unification of outreach services will enable Dakota State to make even more of an impact in South Dakota and the surrounding region.”
