Jason Martin of Madison was one of six South Dakotans who have been serving in the military to receive a special scholarship during an Independence Day ceremony at Mt. Rushmore.  The scholarships, which were funded by the foundations representing each of the six public universities in the state,  covers the student’s tuition and fees for the 2004-2005 academic year. 

Martin is a freshman business administration major at Dakota State University. He is a member of the 1742^nd Transportation Company of Flandreau.  During his tour of duty overseas, his unit served as supply line from the naval port in Kuwait to Marine forces in Iraq.
