DSU Student Wins State Dairy Princess Title Jennie
Patrick, White, was crowned South Dakota State’s 48th
Dairy Princess during the 2003 annual contest held in Sioux Falls
on March 27th. Jennie
is the daughter of Norris and Corinne Patrick and is a junior at
Dakota State majoring in Management and Marketing. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Midwest Dairy
Association. At DSU,
Jennie is a member of the PBL Business Club and placed first in
the state conference and third in the national conference.
Activities she has been involved in include March of Dimes,
MS Walk, and the Student Advisory Team. Patrick
will serve as an ambassador for the state’s dairy industry,
helping the check off program to communicate with consumers.
She will deliver information regarding dairy farmers’
top-notch animal care and land stewardship, the safety and quality
of dairy products, and the economic importance of dairy to South
Dakota’s economy. The seven
contestants were judged on their personality, communication
skills, commitment to dairy promotion, and general knowledge of
the dairy industry. The
Midwest Dairy Association/South Dakota Division sponsors the
