DSU Student Wins State Dairy Princess Title

Jennie Patrick, White, was crowned South Dakota State’s 48th Dairy Princess during the 2003 annual contest held in Sioux Falls on March 27th.  Jennie is the daughter of Norris and Corinne Patrick and is a junior at Dakota State majoring in Management and Marketing.  She will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Midwest Dairy Association.

At DSU, Jennie is a member of the PBL Business Club and placed first in the state conference and third in the national conference.  Activities she has been involved in include March of Dimes, MS Walk, and the Student Advisory Team.

Patrick will serve as an ambassador for the state’s dairy industry, helping the check off program to communicate with consumers.  She will deliver information regarding dairy farmers’ top-notch animal care and land stewardship, the safety and quality of dairy products, and the economic importance of dairy to South Dakota’s economy.

The seven contestants were judged on their personality, communication skills, commitment to dairy promotion, and general knowledge of the dairy industry.  The Midwest Dairy Association/South Dakota Division sponsors the princess program.
