PeopleSoft Announces Remote Applications Hosting Agreement with Dakota State University-Academic ASP Model Will Enable Schools to Cost-Effectively Integrate Enterprise Technology into Classroom Curricula Business Wire DALLAS, Mar 17, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced an agreement with Dakota State University that enables colleges and universities to access PeopleSoft applications hosted remotely at Dakota State's Center for Remote Enterprise Systems Hosting (CRESH). The agreement is an extension of PeopleSoft's On Campus program with Dakota State University that will enable schools to integrate enterprise software into their classroom curricula more quickly and cost-effectively. "Business schools across
the country are interested in using enterprise software in their
course work, but not every school has the time, financial
resources or technical expertise to support the complex
infrastructure needed to manage such applications," said John
Webster, PeopleSoft programs director at Dakota State's CRESH.
"Through CRESH, we manage these applications for
institutions, allowing students and teachers to instantly access
PeopleSoft applications remotely over the internet through a
standard web browser." The agreement represents
PeopleSoft's first national, remote access arrangement for
academic use of its software. CRESH will operate as an academic
application service provider (ASP). Wilmington College in Delaware
is one of the first institutions expected to leverage the
agreement and use PeopleSoft solutions in its business school in
the fall 2003 semester. "Installing and managing
the enterprise applications would have required significant
hardware investments and additional IT staff," said Stephanie
Narvell, associate professor and human resource management program
coordinator at Wilmington College. "Thanks to CRESH and
PeopleSoft On Campus, there's a new option for Wilmington College
to offer our students hands-on experience with the latest,
industry-leading Human Capital Management software within a matter
of months and at a fraction of the cost." PeopleSoft On Campus is an
industry-academic partnership that provides in-kind grants of
software, faculty training, educational materials and technical
support to higher education institutions. Since the inception of
the program in 1999, PeopleSoft has awarded software and faculty
training grants valued in excess of $50M to colleges and
universities in the U.S., Canada and Germany. "Dakota State was the first
university to deploy PeopleSoft applications in the
classroom," said Kevin Horigan, general manager, PeopleSoft
Education and Government. "Now, Dakota State is building on
its technical expertise to 'share the wealth' with other schools.
CRESH brings the merits of the On Campus program - and the use of
enterprise systems in the classroom - to higher education
institutions across the country. PeopleSoft looks forward to
developing the next generation of IT leaders through this exciting
academic agreement." About PeopleSoft
