DSU’s
Zlotak receives Multicultural Education award
Scott
Zlotak, Dakota State University diversity coordinator, was given
the Outstanding Contribution for Multicultural Education award by
the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). “This is my first award and recognition by my professional peers,” Zlotak said. “The award not only recognizes excellence in my work and research, but also highlights the dedication and work here at Dakota State University.”
The
Outstanding Contribution to Multicultural Education Award
recognizes a professional who has made significant contributions
to multicultural education, more specifically as related to race
and ethnicity.
The
recipient of this award is chosen because of a strong commitment
to fostering pluralistic and respectful learning environments
through development of innovative methods or models in the field
of multicultural education and/or service to their respective
campus and the general community. ACPA’s mission is to serve all levels of higher education student affairs professionals through educational and developmental programs, publications and networking opportunities in order to enable these educators to excel in their positions, to achieve career growth, and to contribute to the profession. “It feels very good to get recognized for my hard work, not only in the profession, but also this is a personal achievement,” added Zlotak. “My dedication to social justice and cultural equality goes beyond my professional life and is grounded in my everyday life—the award recognizes this dedication.” |
